Welcome to another beginning of the year!

This year is off to a great start!  In room 1406, a new co-teacher is hanging out, Mr. Alfred McLaughlin.  The business writing and attention to detail that he is bringing into the classes has certainly added to the high level of learning occurring.   Welcome, Mr. McLaughlin, you are definitely an asset!

In this classroom, we have three separate classes going on every day, luckily they are at different times.  Four classes are listed as Junior level English Language Arts with Inclusion students, one class is Basic English and another is an EOC prep class.  Although planning for these various classes is a little challenging, working with so many levels is a delight and the students are responding the procedures and expectations we have in place.

I love teaching various texts and reading with intention and purpose, but this year the focus is on an even more intense level- writing.  Five weeks into the school year and I have heard,
"writing with you makes my brain hurt", "I'm tired when I leave your class", "your class goes by so fast", "you act like writing is the most important thing in the world", and my favorite, "you're like a white Madea".  I can't wait to hear the random observations as we roll on through the year!

This blog will be used as a way for us to share our writing as we struggle through the process and learn together.
